History of Catfish’ statue Into The
Clock In Bekasi
Every
country or city has charateristic’ statue to know the name of that city like
Jogja, Surabaya and so much more. Bekasi has a famous’ statue, the name is
Catfish’statue which the statue is located in Bulan-Bulan. The statue is
catfish-shaped with kecapi fruit. This statue is made by citizen because it has
a strategy location and the citizen always use Catfish’statue as street
directory to explain to the people who dont know the location in Bekasi.
Catfish’statue was bulit in 1955. Catfish’statue was bulit when the governor
was Moch.Djamhari but the citizen was thinking that the statue is irrelevant
with what the citizen want for make icon of Bekasi. But the governor think
catfish and kecapi fruit are productiv land in Bekasi until the governor think
that both of them are good to be an icon.
But
the citizen were thinking that both of them arent good to be an icon in Bekasi
because the character of catfish is ravenous and if we sell that fish, the
price is cheap, same with kecapi fruit so in their opinion catfish and kecapi
fruit aren’e good to be icon. Finally the citizen make a protess to their
governor but the governor never solve that problem. And in April,24 2002 some
communities came to the catfish’statue and then they burned that statue. After
that situation the citizen have some idea to make a new statue with new icon
like gabus’fish and rambutan but when 2010 there was a quiz for that icon.
Finally the icon changes into Clock, it calls “Jam Gadang”. Even Catfish’statue
has changed into The Clock but Catfish’statue has made history for citizen of
bekasi.
